| New Year’s Day Message from OWHMD Founder
 Operation Welcome Home (Maryland) wishes to thank all the individuals,scouts, church groups, organizations, Veterans and businesses who have supported us during 2010. During this year alone, over 45,000 servicemen and women representing the Navy, Army, Airforce and Marines had been greeted at the International terminal at BWI , a record breaking year.
This outpouring of appreciation to our troops, cheers of “Welcome Home” at the door, pats on the back, handwritten note cards and the generous donations for the snack bags, involved over two thousands volunteers from the local area, demonstrating how grateful the nation is to our military hero’s. We hope to see you again at one or more of our events in 2011!

About Operation Welcome Home Maryland!
Hundreds of our Sailors, Airmen, Soldiers and Marines return from the War on Terror every week through the gates of the Baltimore/ Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Since March 2007, Operation Welcome Home volunteers have greeted over 500 flights and more than 100,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. We invite you to come on out and help us welcome them home!
Take a look at the EVENT CALENDAR on the right side of this website to see the current month’s event dates or call our hotline at (410) 630-1555 for recorded information about our next event–and PLEASE be sure to call the hotline again before you leave for the airport to make sure the flight has not been delayed or cancelled.
We are also meeting many unexpected flights so keep watching the calendar for changes; we suggest putting our hotline your cell phone to get up to the minute news on new flights we will be meeting…

We had a terrific turn out Sat evening at BWI with over 190 volunteers present to welcome home 222 Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Soldiers.
We had Vice Admiral Flaherty, and two Master Chiefs assisting at the door to greet the majority of Navy Medical personnel on board who were from Washington.
We had various other groups present, The Howard County Republican Women's Club, the Marine League, the Officer/Womens Club of Frederick, Evening Rotary club of Frederick; American Legion; Salisbury Students from the Student Govt; and many others just to name a few.
We had over 8 Girlscout/brownie troops there who enjoyed Betty's enthusiastic encouragement.
Another flight will be arriving March 2nd with more medical types, this time from Kuwait.
